Default question about airbox

This question is for a 95 ls. I noticed that on the bottom of the airbox there is a plastic peice that looks like it runs all the way down next to the passenger wheel. I was wondering if anybody knows what this does. Is this some type of thing that brings up cold air?

its just an airbox...designed so that no water can get through it into your intake

ya its a kinda pain to get it out, big ol box that you will have to remove if u put a cold air intake in. its a lot easier with the tire off, but not impossible.

if you take the resonator off, your engine gets as loud as an aftermarket intake right?
