Default kinda OT but..question about welders

i didnt know where else to post this,
im looking to buy my own mig welder. they have some for like 150 on ebay but theyre flux core migs. my friend told me not to get a flux core...are they bad or what???

Flux core are good for outdoor use. Indoor you want to use gas instead of the flux. Gas cleans better, but outdoors gas can be blown away before it has a chance to clean the weld, so thats where flux comes in. My choice is gas, a lot cleaner welds.

As for what welder to use I try to stay away from the flux core welders because I use welders for a variety of uses like body work, rollcages, chassis work, manifolds, and other stuff. I also have 2 welders. I have a Lincoln sp175 plus mig welder and a Thermal Arc Pro Wave 185 TSW tig welder, not to mention my oxy/actelene setup. Maybe it would help if you would tell use what you are trying to weld but try to bring the rest of this to the welding thread its hard as hell trying to keep everything straight as it is
