Throwing '00 GSR pistons into my '94 LS...
I'm thinking 'bout throwing some gsr pistons into my b18b1 motor (b18c1 tranny). I know this'll raise the compression to about 10.1:1 if i'm not mistaken. How exactly is this going to affect the performance of the car? Also, do i need to do anything before/after these pistons are thrown in, or can i just have someone install them and leave it at that? Any help is appreciated
IMO.... if you're going to go through all of that trouble, might as well put in high compression pistons into your LS block (I'm putting in PR3 pistons into my daily driver LS block.... got rid of the turbo
) and run that. But if you plan on turboing the car later, I'd either put forged pistons AND rods (I've seen people get cheap and just do pistons only and run into problems later when their rods fail or bend because they were too cheap while everything was out) and boost on those forged rods and not worry about the block, or keep it stock with the LS pistons and save that money on engine assembly (if you don't do it yourself) and parts (new gaskets & seals when you put it back together) and use it towards the turbo kit.
Just my $.02 thinking economically (somewhat) here
.

^^^good advice...any other opinions?
btw Newman...are you the one w/ the JDM Si-VTEC? That thing is dope!!! Check out my photo album (link in signature)...i'm trying to 'imitate' the look

cr will be 9.6 with usdm gsr pistons
there is no point in useing these pistons. its only going to be .6 more cr than you have now. so you will only gain a few hp
if you plan to boost your better off keeping the ls pistons
and if your going all motor you should use b16 or ctr pistons
so there really is no point in useing gsr pistons

I think if you have plans to boos the motor, it would be better for you to save the money on the tear down and pistons etc and get the block sleved, some forged pistons and rods. If not then just slap the turbo on your LS block as is, I dont think that the gsr's will really have much of a benifit to you. Too much work for littel gains.
Do it once and do its right !!! but hey, if you need anymore suggestions or help hit me up !!
