Default What the is that sound?

Recently i noticed that when i turn my steering wheel it makes a squeeking niose? Is it caused by a lack of power steering fluid? Any ideas what it could be and how i can fix it?

it squeeks when you turn at all or just one way in particular? Does your car steer fine? i have had my ps removed for quite some time, it doesnt squeek - but check the fluid level. make sure your tires arent rubbing against something like the fender well

What size wheels do you have? I had 18's that hit the shock tower (or whatever the metal is back there) only when the wheel was turned to the lock.

CV joint or wheel bearing maybe. Just check the boots and see if they are torn or cracked.

Well I have the stock rims with 55 series tires but i did drop it 2inches. My car steers just the same but the niose is still there. I'll take alook at the Fluid but not sure about the rubbing on the wheel well, that could be it.

I doubt it's rubbing on the wheel well, is there any resistance when you turn it?

Check out where the sound is coming exactly. Could be a ripped CV boot or maybe you are rubbing the fender liners cause your car is too long. I rub the fender liners with my car and I have 15's. My car is only dropped 1.75" too.

My car makes the same noise, I had to take it in to the dealer for it when it was only 1 year old. They just needed to lubricate a washer in the steering column.

I would try that first before you worry about it being something major. My sound just came back, 2 years later, so it makes sense that it would just be a washer needing some TLC.

Good luck!
