Default How Do I Moon Cut My Valve Cover.... Where the Cam Gears Are.

My Team Mate and I are both trying to do what you would Call Moon Cutting the Valve Cover, in the area where the Cam gears reside. It's where there are two holes cut on the side of the valve cover to just give you enough room to adjust the gears when tunning but still protects the top of the belt abd surrounding area. If anyone can tell me what tool to use or how I would go about doing this to cut perfectly round Identical holes. I would appreciate any help. Thank You for your time

i was wondering the exact same thing for my mugen valve cover so i found this guy that was selling them on ebay. i emailed him and this is what i got in response. i hope this helps:

Send a money order of $70.00 with the Valve cover this will include shipping back to you (UPS GROUND) to upgrade shipping E-mail us for a price quote. Ship Valve Cover to:

PMP Designs Automotive Group
12828 Breezewood
La Mirada, CA 90638

This will cover the laser cut. It is very and I mean very important that when you send your valve cover that it is free of oil. The valve cover must not have any oil at all or we can charge you additional money to clean your valve cover. This again is very important that your valve cover is 100% clean. Now if there is any scratches or dents on it, you must write a note so that we are aware of it. We will not be held responsible for any damaged valve cover, or in any case of shipping damage.

If you want to send in your bottom plastic piece please include an additional $10.00 for this process. If you want to purchase a new bottom plastic piece the price is $35.00. This can later be ordered through our website at http://www.pmpdesigns.com Under JDM Products.

**IMPORTANT**

Make sure you include your mailing address on a piece of paper inside with the payment. Also include the services we are doing for you, (i.e. Cutting Valve Cover/ Cutting Plastic Piece/ Proving a new plastic piece.)

Thanks
Mike Kye

Damn, I wouldn't risk getting that Mugen valve cover cut. I hope nothing goes wrong with that cut.

now if you use a hole-saw bit, how do you vice the cover vertically? or do you vice it down sideways?

i don't know.. i might as well just spend 70 bux and get it done right. unless you guys know anyone else that can laser cut.

Or you could just try to find a spare valve cover and cut off the whole side piece, and use it only during tuning, then put your other one back on.

Is it really necessary to show off your cam gears?

For $70 you can get a valve cover on ebay and chop it up to your heart's contenet and still have a perfectly sealed one at home for when you're done tuning it. That is, if you're going to tune it and not just rock the stunna VC because it looks fast and furious.
