ld me B18a1 swap, need help-High RPM skip
Im new to the board a friend told me to see if anyone might have some help to offer me before i sell the car. at the end of summer i bought a civic hatch back from a kid who had just lost his license, so... i got it for a steal. Its a 91 chassis with a 91 integra B18a1, i know its kinda a antique but... its got alot of good body work so it looks strait, anywhere heres the PROBLEM: bought car when it was warm, ran awesome, Walked a eclipse gst, along with many other cars( i bought the car just to race so this made me happy)then... it got colder here, i live in western NY, this is where i dont know if what happened is a coincidence or not,
At a High RPM the engine "breaks up" right around 4000RPMs, its hard to tell because one thing it does, is the tach. jumps all around the guage, back and fourth to random RPMs. The plugs were very white and clean so i figured it was running lean and that was the problem, i changed the plugs, wires and fuel filter ... it didnt make any difference, it had a cold air intake, so i thought... maybe the cold is causing this, so i turned it into a short-ram(it sould be sucking hot air), that didnt help, the car still "studders" once you hit a higher RPM and the more throttle you give it the worse it gets, i even changed the computer. A problem is if i take it to any "local" shops... these guys are morons, no offence... but they know how to fix chevy trucks and cars , they dont even know why there is a different engine than should be in the car, and i took it to a big import shop around where i live, and they do all the speed work and basicly my car wasnt good enough for them to waste theyre time with. So the only things i havent checked that people told me they think could be wrong with it are, the TPS(throttle positioning sensor) and ALL the wiring for the ECU, it is a messy job and should be redone... but i dont understand why the wiring would all be fine when i 1st got it, and then it just goes bad without being touched?, or could it be the distributor or maybe fuel pump, any info would be appriciated!
