hey i know this is off this topic and i did do a search but is there any way to change this topic to a poll or would i just have to re post the hole thing
that sounds like a great topic for a paper. If I had a honda, the first thing I would do is turbo it, screw the little bolt ons. the benefits are huge as far as far as HP, TQ, colder weather, and they have more of an advantage over NA cars in climates like New Mexico, etc..
the only downfall is the amount of money, if you want to do it right. there is a kid with a honda around here, and the only reason he did it is because he wanted a blow off valve. running about 2 psi, just enough to sound it off. probably evened out as far as performance after the weight it added.
Anyway, the downside is the cost. You're looking at the turbo, intercooler and fabrication for intercooler and intercooler piping. New stand alone EMS, LOTS of tuning, implementing a knock sensor for bad gas, new exhaust header, new exhaust system, etc... What is the compression on these cars? You will definitely need stronger pistons to run a good amount of boost (forged), so you're looking at a rebuild, and if the compression is too high, you'll need a lower compression piston to run high boost. The lower the compression the more boost you can run.... A 7:1 or 8:1 piston would be good. You'll be putting down a lot more TQ and HP so a new clutch/flywheel might be in order, unless the stock clutch is good for high HP applications.
That would be a very mean car. GSR's are scary enough NA, I'd be scared to face one with a built motor running an EMS and FI @ high boost.... Still be FWD though
Then again, some people like staying true to the NA power... Not me
