It was Cold and slippery in the morning and late afternoon.
Spencers 90 Hp wind up toy overtook loads of cars. Yep, he ran novice but, he doesn't belong there. GREAT DRIVING SPENC!
Me looking ahead and trying to implement the NOT LOOK INTO REARVIEW MIRROR TOO MUCH that we discussed in class.

And the pics just keep coming, and coming...
Subie went off and Ray avoided him as best he could.
Don't hate me Ed, we have to show at least ONE of your off road excursions. This WAS accident avoidance, we reviewed the tape and it was best for Ed to go off than wad it up into the WRX that lost it right in front of him.

Funny, it felt settled.

I had no idea just how close I was when exiting that turn.
How the Hell did you get it Sooo Dirty Ed?
This is how you do NOT want to get stuck.
to all that attended. If we met you for the first time, glad you made it and hope you come back many times in the future. If I met you and forgot your name or forgot to say good bye I appologize. There will be many events in the future. And the single biggest thing that Always comes to mind during and after I drive these things is, Damn this car is just so friggen good! I am to the point now of exceeding my brakes (but, thats a different issue entirely.)

I cant preach that enough to my students , it will keep you on track.
and the closer someone gets to you , the less they can do.
its when they fall back that they can actually get a run on you

Yeah funny enough I never thought I had an issue with this but, after reviewing vid of Watkin's Glen, Rodney brought it to my attention that MY attention should be AHEAD of me and Not behind me. The instruction at Limerock focused on using your peripheral vision. They had us practice several lessons and it gave me again something else useful to improve upon my skills.
I just reviewed most of my videos with Edwin, (well actually we were really looking for some cool shots of him shredding grass) and I noticed I glanced less than at Watkin's, which is a very good thing. It seems that I can put into practice what I learn relatively immediately. My major downfall is not having enough free time to hit the track as often as I'd like to.
If I just had more time to practice.

I soo totally wish. I haven't yet driven VIR and am very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately my job gets very busy around the holiday season and December isn't a possibility.
I was interested in something during February when I have a full month off. Last year I did nothing the whole month, didn't even go on vacation. This year, I planned early and booked a cruise as well as a 10 day trip to Vegas. So if NASA is at VIR during some of my free Free time during February, I'm definitely interested.
My career plans my free time about 9 to 12 months in advance, so I look as far forward as possible for track days. Unfortunately many clubs wait too long to post their dates for me to attend and plan and get time off in advance.
My goal next season is to hit VIR and Summit point for the first times, Watkin's Glen again, and of course Limerock, (at least once).

Man, it was soo cold and slippery, I felt if I tried that or cooked that corner too much, I woulda been visiting Ray and Ed in the weeds.
Literally the first and last sessions of the day, you didn't hear any tire noise because they remained cold as Hell and you just skated through the turns and kept your foot to the floor and held on for the ride.
The 3rd session was my best, and many in our group thought the same. It was warm enough for grip and confidence.

Me and Ed were harvesting in the grassfield intentionally to avoid a spinning WRX. Vids up next week after I get it from Jason and Edgar.

I doubt it would be any worse than yesterday...38F during the first session, there were ice at the paddock, on the grass of the run-off zone and some on the candy strips.

I repeated time and again that I will not drive out to VIR in Feburary. Probably going to wait till when it gets a tad warmer outside before I make the trip. But here is the question ... are you going to be instructing at VIR?
