Default GSR motor with high compression and nos? is it a good idea?

hey guys, im planing on rebuilding my GSR motor to throw in my 91 CRX DX. i only have enough $$ right now to do; pistons, valvetrain, square the block and mill the head. i am plaing on going for high compression pistons like 12:1 or soemthing along those lines. and that i think was gona boost me up to around 210hp n/a or somewhere around there. then next summer i was gona put a dry nos system on it. would that be ok to do? having that high compression and then adding nos onto it? cuz i know it is a method of forced induction, and i know with turbo the ideal compression is like 9.5:1, so i dono if what i wana do is gona blow me up. thanks for your help.

I think you should should invest in engine management before you try to add nitrous to your setup, you would also want to get cams as well. A small shot would be fine with that setup

get a wet system u planning to squeeze i am assuming u will fuel pump and injectors since the ones in your crx not meant for all that power..........nos is all about fuel as long as you got fuel u won't lean out..

I knew this guy who sprayed a 75 wet shot on his hybrid H22 civic running 12:1 CR. It ran low 11s on the giggle gas.

It's not something to be taken lightly but it's possible. I believe I had a talk with him about it and the main issue is to get the nitrous to ignite/combust. So a good ignition and fuel system is key. Then you really shouldn't go too big with your shot. He had an H22 and was spraying a 75 shot. So I guess you should drop a bit lower, just to be safe.

But also extensive dyno tuning and building up of the engine will also help to hold it in, but it is possible.

running nitrous with a 12:1 CR is going to be tough. You'd be hard pressed to rev high on pump gas with that, that is almost a race CR. Although the nitrous may reduce detonation, I wouldn't do any other FI without some SERIOUS internals. Make sure you don't lean out your mixture, or it's bye bye b18c1. I'd say go for it, but you better strengthen your internals, unless you'd like your head to have a personal rendezvouz with you then it shoots through your hood.

I always wanted to know how the JUN dished pistons worked with FI. I hear they are sick for all FI applications, but you'd be hard pressed to find them sold anywhere, let alone anyone that has them. Low CR is perfect for turbo and sc, as well as nitrous

I'm in the process of building a gsr motor and will be spraying a healthy dose of nitrous on it. The Arias pistons I'm buying are advertised as 10.9:1 with a slight dish to them. After some calculations by another H-T member, it looks like they are really only around 10.2:1 and as aresult I will be more than likely spraying a 100 shot. I will be upgrading from 270cc RC's to 440's, using a Walbro 255lph pump, and a Hondata s200.

The head was ported by Alaniz and has a nice meaty set of Crower all motor cams. Rods will be Eagle and the bore will be 84.5mm, which comes out to around a 1.95 Liter motor.

Almost all the parts havve been taken care of, now I just need to start rounding up all the tools I'll need for the buildup. Torque wrenches, dial indiactors, feeler guages, micrometers, calipers, etc. **** man, I still got alot of money to spend.
