anyone heard of MSD ignition frying ICM???
i have a 93 accord w/ a 95 jdm internal coil h22. it ran great for about 5000 miles, no problems. i put the MSD SCIL sport compact ignition system in about 1600 miles ago, and converted it to external coil w/ an MSD blaster 2. it ran great for those 1600 miles, then the ICM fried. i checked wiring, and replaced the ICM, which fried again after only 15 miles or so. right now, i put it back to stock internal coil distributor, no MSD at all. i talked to the guy i get the ICM's from, and he says its pretty common that MSD ignitions fry the honda ICMs. i called MSD, and they were about as helpful as a rock, only repeating "it's nothing wrong with our ignition system, honda ICM's are weak". anybody have any input or similar cases??? thanks for any help.
all i can say is I've had an MSD on my car for over 100k, and have yet to fry an ICM, and so have countless others. honda ICMs do like to break though, but not that fast, I would look into the wiring perhaps there's something wrong with it?
