I have a pice of crap no name brand that littarlly broke in half
! so i need a new one. I had my heart set on the Skunk 2 with the weighted shift-**** and energy bushings, but i heard that it doesnt shift well in CRX's...i tried the stock shifter, but theres so much play, im afraid ill miss a gear...are short shifters even good for b-series trans?...i have the Ys1 with lsd
and i dont wanna mess up my syncros cuz that sh*t was expensive....i just need help on which shifter i should get...thanks!!

If all that upsets you about the stock shifter is the play, just go with the energy bushings. They make the shifts so much more positive and precise that I couldn't believe it! I wasn't expecting the results I got out of them. Give them a shot - they're only like $10, and you can use them with a short shifter if you decide to get one anyway.
Besides, it's not the short shifter that screws up your synchros, it's the guy doing the shifting.

actually, with a shifter thats too short, you will have to apply too much effort to get the car to go into gear. It wouldn't matter if you were 80 year old grandma or 16 year old Johnny Ricer, it will still **** the transmission up.

actually your wrong. You apply more effort, yes, but the short shifter has different leverage than the stock shifter, it is applying the same force. Since you now move your hand through less distance for the shift linkage to move the same amount. The thing screwing up synchros is not completly disengaging the clutch when shifting.

It did happen, and IMHO aftermarket shifters are junk, they do hurt the trans. If you guys want to go with a short shifter, I would stay stock OEm. Now here is the question?
Which OEM honda has a shorter shifter in it from the factory and will not hurt the trans. This shifter is super small. remember it is OEM and throws are super short

I'll take a wild guess on this one but I would say the S2000 or the NSX
Only if we could have cable instead of Rod shifters. Short throw shifters aren't to bad just depends on how hard you drive you car. I personally like them because of the short throw but to save my tranny I'd just get the Energy bushins and a nice **** with a good amount of weight

You think a rear wheel drive sports car would different than our econo boxes?
Honda makes money when they sell a civic..and loose money on a the NSX
