Toda 3 Puck Ceramic Clutch Kit
Long story short, I roasted my clutch in my KAS-Powered Hype R. It's cooked.
I need a new one. Anyone have any experience with these or have these installed on their car?
Does this kit include flywheel, clutch, and PP?
Please don't lecture me about pricing or any other bs. I just want information.
TIA,
Len

I was playing with the EMS...well actually all I did was plug it up just to familiarize myself with the system and monitor the sensors. Somehow or another it said calibration changed. So I'm like...wtf? Yack warned me about accidently hitting keys on the keyboard. Anyhow, the 2 stage rev limiter doesn't work anymore.
Revved it up passed the 2 stage rev limit to about 9,000rpms
and dumped the clutch (thinking we'd get a spectacular burnout) and all you could smell was the clutch burning. LoL. I can still smell it when I drove around this morning. Now it goes into gear really harsh and if you rev match it, it's smooth like it use to be. I didn't know I could kill a clutch that quick!
Oh btw, I still got my stock clutch in there with stock flywheel.

When i was 'monitoring' the screen on saturday it also said that the entire time in the lower left corner of the screen (yes, i know your wondering...i am intreagued with at least one part of your setup....the EMS
) So anyway, I would imagine that anytime you were monitering functions or parameters on the screen it would display this, but wtf do i know.
What i do know, was how easy it was to hit one single key to change operations (f6 to make a datalog for instance) so i imagine it wouldnt take much to fubar something in a hurry.
I would consult your frindly aem installer..... oh wait, its breakfast time

do you want to get the toda clutch becaue its bling bling, or because you think that is the best clutch for your setup?
tilton is the way to go if you are going to spend alot of your drug dealing money, or go action if you want a good all around clutch that is a good value.
everyone has their personal choice though.

hahaha...drug dealin money...
I dunno, the Toda one looks like a real good deal. I mean you get the flywheel with it too. The other option is the ATS Carbon Clutch. I've yet to call Yack for the details on it. Sounds like a stout piece.
If the Toda clutch is just an overpriced unit I'll just go ahead and get something better. It just looks like a deal to me.
Now, keep in mind, my car is still daily driven. At least the Toda one is still a sprung unit.

Toda 3-puck clutch aka toda "race" clutch: it can be purchased by itself (clutch disc and pressure plate) or as an assembly with the flywheel (if you get the assembly, then they claim to have balanced it to 10k rpm). This clutch is like an on/ off switch. You either burn out or stall out from every stop. Grabs HARD though.
The only other toda clutch is the "street" one (full face disc, sprung hub)- which can be purchased in the same manner..... I have this clutch in my itr, it's pretty mild in pedal pressure, but grabs good. I did a write-up on it that you can search for in the archives.....
I really like stiff clutches, and would prefer to have gotten the 3-puck (I didn't daily drive my itr at the time.). But now knowing what rocket has mentioned in his clutch thread, I'm pretty set against clutches with a sprung hub. I have an action clutch in my hatch and I love it.
It's a 6-puck unsprung disc. But the pedal is a little soft for me. I'd prefer a stiffer pedal, but it grabs HARD.

why didnt you just hit "undo" on the ems? you big dummy.

.....forgot to mention that all the toda clutches I've seen are made have a "DK" or Daikin stamp on them. They aren't made by toda, so I dunno why the fascination by a brand name in this manner..... I mean, it's like you're buying versace jeans that come from the old navy factory.....
As for ATS carbon clutch - it's the lightest combo out there. You HAVE to use the whole set, because no part of the disc/ pressure plate/ flywheel is compatible with anything else on the market. Also, I've seen a certain unnamed someone break one of these road racing, so I'd be scared to drag race on it..... especially for the $!
