Default Boredom breeds design

Here's a far away shot of the Carbon Fiber cold air intake I am working on. It was just hacked together with some scrap CF just to make sure it fit in my car. I'll actually do a real one and dyno test it in a couple weeks maybe. Should be fun, it assumes a battery relocation to make it straighter.

cool eh?

This is what my finished pieces usually look like

Opinions? what makes a good intake design?

I would guess a good intake design would start off big from the begining, like 3.5" to 4",and taper to the size of the throttle body. Some say it would work, some say it wouldnt, but then again,if it really didnt work, then why is the stock intake piping made that way???

I say a good one is a 4 to 3" tapered that then runs to a light weight aluminum TB and then into a carbon fiber intake manifold, all perfectly matched in interior diameter and what not because you make it as a one peice unit all assembled... and if you that you can *give* me one and I'll test it out for a few years for you

Yeah I know what you mean on that one...a full system would awesome...actually that may save some fabrication issues...hmmm...

Dynos, dynos, and more dynos. If it doesn't make more power than an AEM cai then you won't make much profit. Now as far as a one off piece goes, it is a ******* beautiful idea man.

Yeah I want it to be better than an AEM CAI. Other than that I don't care so much. Even if it's the same I'll be happy with it. Obviously it should be better because of the excellent heat transfer properties.

So unless I totally blow the design it should make more power longer than an AEM

the 84 already has a cold air intake on it from the factory and i make a custom light scoop that feeds it colder air.

Cheap refers to quality.

inexpensive refers to price.

never buy anything cheap, but always try to get something inexpensive.
