Default 89 sohc ZC struggling at low RPMs

if i shift into any gear except first and start flooring it at around 1K rpms, it stays at 1K rpms for about 5 seconds before picking up any sort of speed. not the normal "honda's dont have torque" answer, cuz my other d16a6 does not behave like this at all. kinda annoying when i start in second gear or if im trying to save gas, and i have to keep downshifting to actually get anywhere.

what could cause this bogging?

its throwing a code, but didnt check what it is yet. the code only comes on when im in gear, get off the gas, and cost for a lil bit. im guessing its the speedo sensor cuz my CRX did that when it had the VSS code.

whats the CAS?

CAS= Crank Angle Sensor.
Code: 9, 8, and 4 could all have something to do with this

when the wires got disconnected on my car it had no low end power. i was slipping the clutch at 3000 just to get anywhere. i understand what your saying about not the normal dont have torque answer. for you the sensor should be on the cam gear side although i dont know where because mine is in the Dist.

What is with the 2nd gear starts? Just curious.

Find out what that code is, because I would imagine that is where the problem is. I would think that should be the first step. I'm also going to guess crank or cam sensor, cam timing, ignitor/distributor issues as my first choices.

besides trying to save gas? when im rolling to a stop, and say a light turns green, i usually try to stay away from shifting back into first while im rolling. even if i rev-match, the first gear synchro likes to go quickly on these trannies.
