im going to japan for a month and want to get a motor over there, preferrably a c5 to swap into my hatch. i know that they have to throw out their motors at like 30k so i was thinkin i could pick one up for real cheap considering they are garbage to them.......how cheap am i looking at? also anyone know the cost of shipping for a motor back to cali would be? thanx

I saw them for 3000 at one of the used parts stores I used to frequent when I was stationed there.
The place is by the Camp Zama army base, near the 129 and was called Showa Thats all the directions I could really give driving anywhere in japan is like going through a maze.
Make sure you hit an Up-Garage and the used rim warehouses that are sprinkled all over japan.
Have fun and dont ogle at the school girls.

Wow!! I never got rid of my motor at 30k. I think I had 160k on my car when I sold it. Must be nice, all the people
living in Japan getting new motors for there cars thinking its garbage.

 

1 billion yen. Hell, I don't think with taxes and shipping it back over here it will any cheaper than buying one from here.

The B18C5 motor from Japan is not the same as the USDM version, its got higher compression pistons(11:1) so it make more HP and Torque.

dude i think he means that there is no b18c5 in japan. its only b18c for both type-r and gsr you just need to find the right one.
that would be sweet to do though if you can do it for cheaper.

 

3K for ITR? i thought it'll be cheaper.

correction...there is no b18c5 engine from japan...the jdm itr engine is a b18cr...however it just says b18c on the block...also the jdm gsr engine is a b18c and also says b18c on the block i believe

I knew the Type R just says b18c but never knew the GSR did as well..weird.I remember reading this article on Mr. Spoon himself,and they asked him whats his favorite engine and he said b18c4,and said there are a b18c2-4 over in Japan.Don't know,anyone can inform me?peace.
