Nose dived into an Intrepid (56k go bake a cake)
Hey Guys....
I was hoping I never post a message like on this on these forums, but I guess accidents are inevitable.
Long story short, I got into lil accident. I rear ended a Dodge Intrepid..... I slid right under his rear bumper, I'm riding pretty low (H&R Sport Suspension Setup). i was going about 30-40km/hr, maybe even less. The air bags did not go off, thank God…. although I'm surprised why not.

I know the pics arent that clear, but I need some expert opinions..
1. The doors open/close perfectly as before, air bags did not come out, motor seems to be in place.. nothing is touched but the radiator, rad support and the fenders are minimally bent inwards, very little. I maybe wrong. Frame damage, I doubt.. but I maybe wrong - what do you guys think?
2. If you were in my shoes, would you sell or keep? It's a 2001 GS-R with 35,000 KM (not miles, KM). I worried about it not handing and feeling the same as before. Anyone have experience in a restoring your integra with similar damage?
Thanks H-T

make certain you don't have any frame damage, if not get it repaired. my mom got hit when she was in her 2002 expedition, and her frame was bent in the accident. after the repair, her car drove like new. i'd say fix that car, it's not too bad and it's a shame to sell a nice car like that over minimal damage.
get all the parts and fix it urself, the radiator support may need to be done by someone else, unless ur really good, but the rest of course will just be bolt on, save as much money as u can. i was in an accident on the highway and the ****** ****** hit and run me, my insurance is gay and wouldnt pay cuz i needed to get their license and better description besides "maroon suv haulin *** in the shoulder". i bought the door from a junkyard and put it on myself, saved me about $1000, i couldnt fix the quarter panel myself tho so i took that in, labor charges are a bitch tho so try to save as much money as possible and keep ur baby
The frame rails are probably fine from the looks of your fenders.
I'd have a new radiator support welded in instead of having them try to straighten out the old one.
I was in a similar rear-ending accident and my radiator support dips down in the middle and is rolled slightly downwards, so I have problems with installing the bumper, aligning the headlights, and closing the hood (but could partially be the fault of the Factor X CF hood). I'll probably do it myself in the future when I can weld or braze pretty well.

cause I have a 2001 Satin silver front end in my shed. I have a JDM
conversion so it's just sitting there, I have front bumper with type R lip
hood fenders and rad support (not sure if it can be used as it was drilled
out for the rad.)

Now you have an excuse for your parents if they bitch about spending 2 grand on a new front end. I am kinda happy when my oem stuff breaks for this reason.

Man.. that sucks.. thank god that you were ok.
the car was beautiful and it must of performed awesome. Hopefully the damages wont be severe and that you will not have to total your car...

the car is very fixable. at this point in time i think your best option is to buy an itr front clip, take you car and the radiator support to a body shop and have them weld the good radiator support on there. also be sure to check your motor mounts to be sure that it wasnt the engine that stopped the wreck. thats where it can get costly. if it hit the motor odds are it bent a motor mount and screwed up your shock towers and causing frame damage. all in all for a honda that is not a serious wreck
the reason the airbags did not deploy is because the bumper support was not touched in the colission. had the car been at stock ride hight your airbags would have deployed and possibly caused frame damage and such

but i say you just go to a junk yard and try to get all the parts you can to fix it youself and whatever you cant do take it to a body shop

thats a really nice looking car. i would say fix it and keep it. if you like the jdm front you might want to upgrade to that, otherwise keep the 98 style front.
seeing this.. makes me wanna sell my hatch and get a silver gsr. soo nice!

just get a new frontend and (possible a new radiator) you'll be fine.
