Default Milling cylinder heads and cam timing??

Hi guys:

I did some searching on honda-tech but didn't quite find the answer i was looking for. What is the standard or general guideline regarding the amount of milling done to a cylinder head and the difference (retard) in timing obtained from this? For example, i have an H22 head that has been milled about .015, valves deshrouded, and welded chambers. How much will this offset my cam timing?

Just for case study, i set my cam gears at 0,0 and get a lopey idle with my JUN cams. If i advance the exhaust cam about 1 degree, idle gets better. I assume that with the new cylinder head, timing is off (retarded) and i have increased overlap. Advancing the exhaust cam thus will decrease the overlap. Am i correct with what i am saying? I am no expert in this field but want to learn how to get it done the right way. Of course, i'll be taking the H22 to the dyno for tuning after break-in.

Thanks in advance.

i have my zc head milled .022 with a thinner head gasket and i have srr cam gears on it, advanced about half a degree and it seems about perfect. with jun cams it seems your idle would be a little lopey anyways.....but .015 isnt that much, within a degree you should have it compensated for completely.

the rule of thumb for this is...for every .020" removed, cam timing will retard 1 degree
