Noise with clutch in/out
At idle and in neutral, is it normal for the car to get quieter when you push in the clutch as apposed to having it out. the noise isn't very obvious and loud, but you can hear it if you listen for it. i hope its normal and its just the noisy throwout bearing. what do you guys think?
if it is a growling noise when in idle it probebly is the throwout bearing. lol i go to lincoln tech in Columbia MD and im in "manual tranny & driveline" class right now so ill ask the instructor for you tomorrow and let you know for sure
Mine has made that noise since it was new. It now has 30k miles on it.
Everyone has told me it's the throwout bearing but then I've been told that the throwout bearing makes noise when you press the clutch in..... I'm replacing my clutch soon thouse so maybe the noise will go away.
Just get a Spoon exhaust and you won't even be able to hear ....anything anymore.

no, it is not the throwout bearing. When you have the clutch engages in neutral, the crank is still spinning as well as internals in the tranny. That's the noise you are hearing, the spinning shafts in the tranny (sorry for the lack of a technical term for spinning shafts in tranny) but this is normal. Again, it is not a faulty throwout bearing.
