does this really help the engine at all? or is just the name we pay for? im in need of a new thermostat soon, just wondering if it is worth buying the mugen one.
the thermostat opens up a bit sooner causing the engine to run a bit cooler. You wouldn't notice any huge gains, if any, unless you had some extensive engine work done. But it's not a bad mod to have while you are in replacing the thermostat.
try checking ur local autozone/kragen/pep boys/napa store they might sell a thermostat that opens up at a lower temp thats prolly half the price of a big name aftermarket brand
Yep, your local auto parts store should have the same thing on the shelf for $4.
It definitely isnt noticeable under any setup really in terms of power...all it would do is, combined with a number of other mods, keep temperatures down for motors that have a tendency to overheat.
For example, on a tracked boosted motor, heat may be an issue, so a more efficient radiator, thermostat, thermoswitch, etc all may be used in conjunction to lower temps.
