Default Rubbing Compound

okay...i searched and seems that everyone recommends the 3M stuff w/ the red cap...

i had some assclown either fall onto my hood or set something on it and drag it off (i don't know i wasn't there). but i have 2 perfect hand prints on the hood and a lot of light scratches (obviously only into the clearcoat).

the car is black...what is the best method of using the compound to get them out, because i saw in another post that someone mentioned that after they used the compound that it left new marks that wouldn't come out

thanks guys....never used the stuff before.

The only way to really use a compound properly is with a high speed buffer. If there are scratches in the paint, then it is a good excuse to get the whole car dolled up. Get the whole thing buffed out, it could probably use it anyway.
