Default owners of JDM RHD Type Rs...

Just wondering, what is it like shifting with your left hand? Does it take some getting used to driving on that side of the car ? I am considering purchasing one..but I wondered about that.

I don't own one, but my friends and I have often times, shifted from the passenger seat just to see, it take a bit getting used to to go into 5th but other than that it's stupid easy....I don't think i could shift fast w/ my left though....

shifting was no problem, but had to train myself to watch the right side of my lane or else I'd start drifting over to the left

Shifting is easy. The only problems I have had are turning left at stoplights if there is a car across from me (cant see around) and going through drive throughs because you half to switch seats.

Yeah, i thought about the whole drive thru thing...that would be weird. I would just go through in reverse. lol Also, i wonder what a cops first reaction would be when he came up to the window and the driver would be on the other side! lol

Or if you go to Rally's. They have drive thru's for the person on the left side and right sides of the car.

I am left handed when writing so using it to shift the manual on a RHD car was no problem for me. The only problem I had was the turn signal and windshield wiper lever locations. When I wanted signal to turn or make a lane change, I would hit the w.w. lever instead of the turn signal. It also took me awhile to orient myself and stay in the middle of the lane.

The wiper control is on the right side on LHD Tegs. RHD cars have the wiper controls on the left side. I think that the concept is that you won't have to take your hand off the shifter to signal. IMO

Oh, and driving a RHD feels a lot more natural too me. I don't know if it's the fact that I also am left-handed, but it was awesome .

The wiper and headlight controls are oposite from the us version integra. You're turn signals are on your right hand along with the headlight switch, and the wipers are on the left. Shifting was really easy for me to get used to. Its the same pattern. Shifting fast is a little harder and going into 5th is a tiny bit tricky. BTW, if you're looking to buy a rhd ITR then hit me up. Mine may be for sale

lol, that was my exact problem when i drove my friend's gtr (r32)...stopped at the light and looked out my side of the window to see that i was quite a ways away from the lane - 1/3 of the car was in the left lane.

Its scary when I mess around trying to drive in Tokyo area with US driving experience.
Austraila is much better with more open road but still close call in Intersection because looking at wrong way. Company car did scrape the curb few times since I miss judge left side of car in traffic. I did get laughed at alot by coworkers of turning on wipers while trying to signal all the times!

you tend to go into 4th rather than second, but the feeling on shifting with your left hand does take some time to get used to, backing up was the hardest thing for me to get use to.

The shifting is the easy part. Judging lane changes is difficult only if you tend to look at one line when driving. If you are the type that just stays in the middle of the lane and watches both lines, then you should have no problem. It actually feels much more natural.

But it seems that my left hand was not as precise when down shifting. Probably just me over thinking it. It sure is fun to roll up next to someone and then they realize you are on the right side driving with nobody on the left. They have the confused look.

Not much help here as all my cars have been RHD, as are the majority in the country, so its kinda natural for me. Always wondered about shifting with right hand would be like though.
