I need help... Can't fixing noise problem when making a left turn..
I'm driving a 91 si hatch with a b16 swap.. I never had a noise problems making a left turn before, but after I changed the axels I noticed that there was a noise problem when making left turns. Anyways.. These are rebuilt axels and was assured they were good... I changed the half shaft, and when I took the old half shaft off the bearing was bad... I think thats where the thump noise came from, as I replaced it with a good half shaft, I thought the problem should be over.. but it wasn't. It still made thumping noised when making a left.. Now my question is.. what else can be the problem? the motor mounts?(I dont have a mount it, it was a cut and weld thing) The car didnt make noises when making left turns prior to the axel change and i'm going crazy trying to figure out where this noise is coming from.. please help!
btw sorry for the bad use of words on the topic...

I had a similar problem after i put in my b18, when making a left turn I would hear and feel this thumping/knocking. Turns out my passenger side axle was to long. The guy and driveshaftshop.com told me how to do a test to see if it's to long. check yours out
Ok if you don't have wheel center caps on the test is easier, so if you do have them on take them off. You do this test with the wheels on and the car on the ground.
1. Take the the axle bolt off, with your wheel center caps off its very easy to get a socket on it just as you did when you installed your axles.
2. Its about a 32mm bolt if my memory serves me right, with that off use your finger and try to push the axle in towards the tranny.
3. The axle should travel in without superman force since the axles don't carry the whole weight of the car. If your axle is to long it won't budge, only about 1/4'' Mine prob didn't even go in that far. If your axle goes in about an inch then I was told that you have the right size axle.
ok don't quote me on the exact amount of play you should have but it should be almost an inch or more and that is normal... if anyone else knows the exact amount you could help these guys out. Or call or email http://www.driveshaftshop.com
Talk with the honda performance guy (can't remember his name) but he is the one that told me to do this test. I had the wrong size axle even though he sent me the right set. He said sometimes he will get a weird *** crx that uses one normal sized axle and one short stubby one.

I Doubt my axels are too long... I ordered 90-93 half shaft axels with a 90-93 int half shaft.. I will try the test tonight and see if that works.. I was planning on changing the axel again, cause i dont think anything else can be wrong since it wasnt making the noise earlier.. My cross member is fine.. It was never touched and bolts are tight. Any other suggestions? I was told that the axels doesn't make this kind of noise and was told its most likely a bearing... I changed quite a few of stuff now I cant figure this damn thing out..
