Rebuild or swap?
So here's the situation, I'm just an average Joe that basically drives his car for the daily commute (~10 mintues
). I'd love to get started in HPDEs/Honda Challenge/etc ... but funds and time are limited (of course). I was planning on obtaining my license next season however a mishap with (what I think) my head and valve have left my 95 GSR sitting in the garage. Don't really know what is involved to repair, but sounds like a bent valve combined with some head damage and possibly scoring of the block. Will find out soon ...
The choices that I see are:
1. Rebuild the B18C1 to factory specs using either factory parts or aftermarket according to HC Rules. This allows me to race in H3 more competatively.
2. Swap in a B18C5 and race in the H2 assuming HC doesn't rule my car as a Hybrid. This adds more fun on the street, but might reduce the competative nature of the car (not sure, but I think brakes, chassis, and suspension are the main difference).
3. Swap in a B20 and race in H1. This adds most fun on the street, but I most likely won't be too competative in H1.
Do people race there daily commuters in HC? How competative is H3? I can't afford a track only car so if H3 is too competative for my daily driver, then maybe I should just have fun at track days. What do you people think?

4. For the cost of your engine rebuild or B20 you can by an already built car (the entire car, with logbook).
(and yes a hybrid is a hybrid, no matter how you slice it).
If you cant afford a track only car, then you certainly cant afford to race. Sorry. I'm still sitting out... got plenty of time.
