I have a 99 civic si and I was wanting to remove the pinstripe and DOHC VTEC sticker. What is the easiest way to remove the two?

The pinstripe you can just take off with your hands. Just heat it as you go with a hair dryer, it's just a little adhesive holding it on. Then get the crap it leaves behind off with some soap and water or something. I've heard using Goo Gone works for that, but I just used soap and water.

Takes a half hour, max.

 

Some are under the clear coat though.

 

I never heard of people putting on the Pinstripe after the first coat paint job then give it a clear coat.

What is best, is to do it in the summer time. The car is nice and heated. Instead of using a blow Dryer. The sticker film gets really soft, and will be easier to remove. Just comes right off... After then, wipe it down with...uMm ( some Goo stuff?) Forgot whats it called. -=P

 

i did mine painfully by hand on a cold day..basically just scratch away at it softly and then you should be able to grab enough of it to peel it off...after that i used GOO-GONE on a rag and wiped down the area...

well, i removed my pinstripes the other day at work (out of boredome) and on the passenger side, the pinstripes left like a lip or something and u can see that there was something there. it really bugs the hell outta me. im gonan try and buff it today at work and see what that does. how bout taking off the Civic and EX badges on the back? those just pull off and take the glue off with some target?

 

would the "Civic" emblem on the back have pegs or is it just held on with adhesive?

 

im pretty sure that the civic and the EX are not bolted on, you could prolly get a string and rub it on the back side of the emblems and '' cut'' them off. but you also might want a 2nd opinion

 

with the pin stripes goto auto zone, or something like it and they had a rubber disk you put into a drill and it removes the pin striping

 

finished taking off my pinstripes today. it was easier when it was warm. (go figure huh) and i uses a little razor from autozone and VERY CAREFULLY ran it under the striping. easy as 123

 

For the badges that are on with adhesive, I used a blow dryer and dental floss. Really easy!
