All Motor B16b 12sec Build Up Process recommendations
my first step in getting closer to 12sec all motor!!
anyone have any recommendations on the 12sec all motor b16b I want to keep the same block. Looking into doing some head work valve train upgrades etc..
please let me know guys 12sec is my goal with an LSD tranny in an EF STD.
y dont u make it into a b18 with an itr crank, rods n stuff, i think the 2 blocks have the same deck heights because the ctr is jus a destroked itr engine. correct me if im wrong. u can start by letting the engine breath better n gettin better cams, valvetrain, cam gears, higher compersion piston etc.

it all depends on $$.
my back up plan (should my current project die) :
stroke it with ITR crank, GSR may work, alot cheaper and more available (check bearing codes) get some tough rods, bore the block .25 over, you can go with aftermarket or stick with CTR overbore pistons. with the 1.8 crank you should get around 11.9 to 12.1 CR. if you want more you could mill the head (cheap HP) if you do be careful with high lift cams (anything over 12mm).
if you want to make power up high you might want some stiffer springs, i like portflow. top it off with a P&P and call it a good start,
enjoy the best of the B's

It wont be a B16 anymore then.
Is this critical to you that you remain at 1600 cc's? More displacement would make it easier.

Yes I want to keep the b16b block but It can be worked on though bore it out etc

if it's a true b16b block, then the deck height is the same as a 1.8l block........i'd say just throw some R internals in it and you'll have a type r motor, if it's a b16a however you can't do that, the deck height is shorter.....then maybe just bore it out or get it sleeved?

man kinda late now but you should just bought a b16a cause youre gona replace just about every god damn thing on that motor to get the 1.6 into 12 unless you drop major major weight im talking like under 2000lbs

Here's what I always wanted to do with a CTR engine.
Keep stock stroke. Sleeve the engine and bore it out to 85mm. You'll need custom pistons to get a decent compression ratio with 77.4mm of stroke. So get some pistons with the wrist pin moved up a few millimeters. Get custom rods that are a few millimeteres longer. You'll have a 1.8L engine that has a kick *** rod stroke ratio. Stock CTR has a RS ratio of around 1.81. Figure with the pin mod, it'll be closer to 1.9. Toss in some high end cams, headwork and good manifolds and rev to 11K all day.
