Default head gasket Q (kinda searched)

have any of you guys used the OEM gasket minus a layer?
i know they do it alot with VW's so i was just wondering
when i searched i got 755 results and i'm off to work so i figured i'd rely on my boys at HT

What kind of gains are you going to see by removing 1 or 2 layers of a HG? 5HP maybe? and a better chance of blowing it? Or do you gain more?

Yeah as long as the HG holds it is all good. You running premium now? Or not enough of a bump for the detonation to occur?
