AWD CRV Lowered????
hey I am really interested in buying a crv for my daily driver. I want it to be auto but cant find a 2wd anywhere close at all however there are many of the realtime awd ones all around in my price range. I wanted to lower it and was wondering if you can lower the awd just like the 2wd ones. thanks
yes..the CR-V can be lowered.
I have the 1st generation one ('99...but 1st generation ranges from 97-01) and there are springs and coil-overs available.
From what i remember...they have Neuspeed, H&R (which i use), and Skunk2 Coil-overs. They also have Koni Yellows...and neuspeed stut bars.
GS-R rear sway bars help upgrade the suspension as well.
Check out hondasuv.com for lots of info on the Honda CR-V and other honda
suv's.

thanks a lot for the info man. i was just making sure it didnt have to be a 2wd crv to lower. yours looks great, and btw i have been to that site many times but it always seems like some stupid crvs on there from different countries. i will search through it more though hoping to find nice crvs like yours.
heh....thanks for the compliments.
that site has a lot of good useful information. Try registering and search the site more...and don't be afraid to ask questions...they are really nice people...more of an older age group than sites such as honda-tech.com or clubsi.com.
But there are a good few that have nice stuff...and even JDM stuff for the honda-tech.com lovers.

. just wanna know if you have any problem with lowering your crv with HnR. mine is a 97, and will have to upgrade to new shocks and spring after the winter i think. already have had bad bearing toe rod and bushing problems over six years. what kind of shocks are u using? thanx in advance

i lowered my 4wd CRV on eibach pro.. with koni yellow... they koni yellows are CHEAP.. 60 a piece .. for adjustable.. 1 bad thing tho.. the rear canot be adjusted as easy as the front.. as a turn of a ****.. the rear must be preset to the firm of your liking.. and if you wanted to readjusted them.. you would need to take it back off the car...but no problems with the lowering.. i lowered it 2 inches...a few squeeks.. nothing wd-40 wont fix ...and legends are the gay car
thanks for the compliments.
and as far as the gay car goes...keep driving your 91 Legend buddy...thats the coolest car EVAR.
I'm riding on H&R's...and on stock shocks. Going to move up to Koni Yellows.
H&R's give a close to stock ride...possibly a lil' stiffer. Only problem with the lowering is that it lowers both sides equally. Making the front look as if it is riding higher. The eibach's give a lower stance in the front and make it look a lot better.
It is up to you though. I'd happy with the H&R's...as it lowers just enough, smooth close to stock ride.
Hope that helps.

You're an idiot. Speaking of gay, nice avatar.
ANYWAY,
I really like your CR-V, man. I've been thinking about getting one, too. I've been looking for something AWD and a bit more spacious than my 98 Civic coupe. Have you ever run it in the 1/4 mile? I'd be curious to see what people are running with an AWD CR-V with mods.

i have never ran my car at the track..mostly because i don't have any mods done to it yet.
All thats done is a crappy **** intake. (really helps out with mileage though...saw an increase of 60 km to the tank!)
But next season the mods that i plano n doing are...a AEM CAI (off a 99-00 SiR), Comptech headers, comptech exhaust, and skunk2 intake manifold.
Just basic bolt ons for now...i'm trying to actually save up for a g35c...or 350z (So by the time i save up...ones that are about 3 years old should be in my price range).
My thoughts on the CR-V...great all around car. Great for trips and everyday use. Decent mileage..compared to other "SUV's..like an explorer, 4runner". Could use some lower end power...as it's take off is SLOW....but it is an mini-suv..so i guess ya win some and ya lose some.
Great space. LOT of room in the back for tons of things
If you are looking at keeping your civic and having a CR-V as well..it would be a perfect combo. If you need to go more sporty..you got your civic..need an everyday runner...CR-V is the choice.
Good luck...hope that helps. lemme know if you have any more questions..i'm happy to answer.

My fiancée also has a 1998 Civic EX, but her's is a sedan; we'd like to get something with a bit more room. I could use her car for autocross and a CR-V for hauling crap, etc. I thought you had the header on there already. How much is the AWD CR-V Comptech header going for? Aren't they relly pricey?
nope..i don't have the header...maybe your mistaken me with someone else.
but they are pretty expensive...probably go for just under $600 for the header and just under $700 for the exhaust. Pretty expensive..so it might take me the under winter time to save up for it and get it on by the summer.
Not too many options unless you go custom. But good grocery getter.

lol. why, because i dont like a 4 cylinder basically FWD want to be SUV? woops...sorry. at best, i dont think the car has the ABILITY to transfer 50% of the power to the rear wheels. i believe it is FWD the whole time, until the front wheels slip, then it gives ~20%-30% to the rear wheels. the older CRVs had ~150hp and the newer ones with the K24 motor barely has more power than the predecessor. legends have 200 stock, and more torque than that. (210tq for the type 1 engine)
so, i like my legend thank you very much.

91 legend..92 legend..whatever.
I just don't understand what the point of you coming in here and talking **** about a car you have no experience with. What's the point of it? Do you feel cooler? Do you feel superior? You have a Legend..i have a CR-V... so what. I guarantee you the z3 in my garage will smoke your legend in it's stock z3 form.
You have your opinions...keep them to yourself..nobody asked whether or not they wanted an opinion on the car itself.

eh, o well, i can express my opinion, when and where i want to.
big deal if your z3 can beat my legend. i guarantee i paid a lot less for it, and you do realize that legends were the major competitor for the BMW 5 series? along with lexus, and even mercedes E class.

i don't realize that it was a main competitor because it's a peice of junk compared to those cars. I would take any 5 series, E class and any lexus over a legend.
*cough* buy a real luxury car...or a real sports car...at least make up your mind with what you want *cough*
either that ^^ or save your money for something a lot better, buddy.
I will not respond to anymore messages from RangerHomoJoe...
but lemme know if you still need more info on Lowering the 'V.

Have you ever actually been in a Legend? It is extremely high quality. Piece of junk? nope. My 1992 has just about 166,000 miles on it, and it is running great. I can do most of the work myself anyway, so it is cheap to maintain. And it is sexy.
And if you would not think of "current bmws to a 10 year old legend" competition, then you would see. Go look around in Road and Track issues from back then, you will see road tests how it outperforms the competition, and astonishing the testers because of its fantastic build quality.
Also. The Legend and the 2nd Generation Legend share ZERO parts. NO OTHER Acura or Honda (besides the Honda Legend from other counties) share parts from it. The 2nd generation has NOTHING in common with an accord, especially of that time period. All the way from the engine block to the real wood trim. The Legend is ALL original. The engine is the C32a1, the block or any part if is is original. the c35a1 (Acura RL...3rd generation legend) I believe uses the same heads and intake manifold from the type 2 Generation 2 legend.
I just do not see where you all would get that the legend is a POS? Its service records are fantastic, it has a lot of power, especially for the gas milage it is, and it is easily mod-able if you know what you are doing.
Until you own one, or rebuild one from the ground up, please do not assume anything about the Legend, because all of your information is flawed.

The problem is you come on here with no useful information. Just a "gay" comment - literally. Why bother posting such garbage? No one asked for your opininon. This had NOTHING to do with you. So do yourself a favor and grow up.
