Default new skunk stage 1's are in, not impressed yet....?

well basically heres my mods to my 96 GSR:apexi filter, dc jdm 4-1, 2.5 cat, apex n1 catback, lightened flwheel. just had my skunk 1's installed and it doesnt feel the way thay felt in my friends si. they lose power at stock VTEC (4400) and after power builds back up, its not very noticable. im ordering hondata and hoping thatll clear the way for my gains. is this normal for a GSR to react or did some of you get instant power?

My car was lagging too when we dropped in the cams, and it felt slower. Got it tuned and it made a world of a difference. Felt like a whole new car.

Get some adjustable cam gears with some type of Fuel tuning device. Bump the Vtec X-over point to smoothen the dip.

Sell them there just like ctr cams then get some stage 2s or 3s.

i thought the same too. I put on my ctr intake cam (very similar) and didnt notice really anything just the dip in the power curve from the drop in oil pressure from the vtec kicking in had gotten worse...then i got it tuned and wow what a smooth powerband i got now, i wish i would of baselined before the intake cam
Hondata
but with your set up
your only going to make like 2-3whp more than if you were to go with v-afc......just my .02
my friend had a similar set up and only made 2whp more than the v-afc
I was about to go and get hondata untill that.
Now if i was to go all out big cams, bored out, super high compression i would definitly get hondata. But with a mild set up it is just not nessesary

There's the difference between tuned and untuned on my GSR with Stage 1's and Hondata.

ummm... stock VTEC on a B18C1 is 5700 isn't it? I think your thinking of your secondary butterflies.

No, VTEC is @ 4400. My GSR felt liek *** as well when I went from ITR to Skunk2 1 cams, but after tuning it will rock! Mine makes 191whp on a stock GSR block and manifold.

Adjust the air/fuel ratio to where the car makes power(safely) and adjusting the camgears as well. It really is a night/day difference.

SKunk2 stage 1 cams and full sk2 vavletrain, P&P head, mugen head gasket, Comptech Tig header, carsound cat, Apexi WS exhaust, AEM CAI, Hondata S200. Stock Bottom end with 65k. YOu can see the huge dips in HP and TQ on the red untuned line even right at Vtec crossover theres that sharp drop. That is what you're feeling.
