88 LXi clutch cable problems
Does anyone have a pic of where the clutch cable goes into the firewall on their 3rd gen accord? I just picked one up and it looks as if the cable and the housing around the cable moves freely through the firewall into the back of the dash. I need to know what held the cable housing to the firewall so the clutch could work.
I don't know if this will help ya any, but here's a couple pics of my cable going into the firewall.
It's the one directly next to the brake booster and kinda under the wiper motor, with the little ribbed booty thing.
What exactly is the problem you're having with your clutch? Is the clutch an aftermarket replacement?

The problem is where the cable goes into the firewall. It seems that the hole is elongated and there is no bracket to hold the cable housing still so the cable can be pulled by the pedal. If this makes no sense give me a second so I can get a pic.
Hmmm.... it's hard to see in the pic, but it looks as if the whole cable sheath thing is just broken. Unless it's threaded and can just screw back in, but honestly I'd just go get a new cable. They're not that expensive.... $28 and some change from Manchester Honda (and I really have no idea why 86-88 is different from 89, and $10 cheaper too!
), and you have a nice new cable that you don't have to worry about. They do stretch, wear out and break after awile just like anything else.

Maybe I'll just try that. It seems as if the actual firewall is damaged, like someone mashed the clutch too hard and actually pulled the cable through it. How do you get the cable off of the clutch pedal. It's very hard to see up behind the dash, so I can't really tell how it is connected. Thanks for the link though.
