SVWC Touring car from Road Atlanta on RIGHT NOW (4:00 Sat)
What is with that damn European TCC? I can honestly say that's the most metal-to-metal that I've seen yet. (This from the earlier 3pm broadcast from Dublin.)

Franza... You apparently haven't seen much european tin-top racing before. It's a full contact sport over there. In the heyday of BTCC in the mid nineties, the action was so furious it was mind boggling. The cars would end each race looking like they had gone through a smash-up derby.
While club-racing shouldn't be this way, for Pro racing it makes for a good show. They may take it a bit far over there, but it makes for good TV, and keeps the fans interested. People don't watch road-racing because watching a breakaway victory can be pretty boring.
Just throwing the other viewpoint out there... Pro racing is entertainment after all. And those races are darn entertaining!

I think a moderate level of contact is cool in Pro racing but I don't think it should be at the level of car wrastlin'. BTCC in its heyday was nuts and it almost drove costs out of control. Wouldn't wanna see that happen in World Challenge. Having a lot of flagrant contact just leads to a whole lot of laps under yellow, like at DC a few years ago. And that really wasn't much fun.
As for the breakaway racing, I agree that's not as much fun to watch. But that is more a byproduct of not having good rules parity.
