Default rollcage question - can their be bends in the bars that run from side to side?

I stole mike's picture...sorry..... anyway..... if you look at the 2 tubes that run behind the seat....from side to side..... is it legal if those were curved to accomidate me tilting my seat back? Right now mine are straight and I am kind of cramped..... i fit, but barely. the easy solution would be weld in new tubes right there with a slight backwards bend......

AFAIK, the bottom tube isn't required at all. The tube for the harness can have bends in it.

so i could get the guy to cut out the top and bottom side to side bars, use slightly longer tubes and bend them towards the back....... that would certainly help out in the space!!!!

Yes, it's legal. As mentioned, the bottom bar isn't required so you can do whatever you want with it. The harness bar is often curved at the ends to allow more seat clearance. My harness bar is this way. It's full width though. If you're only running a short bar, it might be a little harder to get the bends in the reduced width.
