Default exhaust system

I am looking to buy a new cat-back exhuast system for my h22 and I was wondering which one you guys would recommend. (I don't want ot spend anymore than about 850) I have a Tanabe on right now, and it is about 4 years old and pretty beat up. I want something with a nice thoaty sound and has a nice big canister. I really like the N1 style with the canister at an angle, but I want to know what everyone has to say before I make a purchase. If anyone has a pic of an exhaust on the fouth gen and they could post it would be awesome. Thanks

i own a 5th gen, and i have the Apexi WS (which is like stocky as hell, except the tip). Now, i feel the difference with this exhaust when vtec hits, but again, it is not really what you are looking for (big canister, as you said). It is not loud and it does show some gains, although i haven't dynoed my car, yet.

With all this said, i would say get the N1, it looks pretty sweet on 4th gens and at an angle. You may want to search for pictures, they are out there for this expecific question.

I am about to get the RS R ExMag - but Im going for the subtleness - Im tired of listening to my big can HUMMMM... This exhaust is said to be dyno proven to improve hp and torque - its subtle design is perfect for an agressive sreet car imho.

My brother just put a RSR exhaust on his GSR, and he said he felt a difference in his trottle response. The only thing I don't like about a RSR is the sound. But it is a great sleeper exhaust.

do what you like, i prefer the rsr exmag over the N1 or greddy sp, but then again it is your car...your choice.

Have fun.

i am running 2.25 inch custom piping to a mugen twin loop from a 5th gen, and its awesome. really seems to be the best compromise between sound and gains..even though i have no dyno numbers to back that up. i would say go with the N1 if you dont mind the loudness factor, it just got old for me

If you are willing to spend UP TO $850 give SMSP a PM - I think his go for ~700 and are top noch quality.
