LS motor in EF-simple questions
ok heres a few quick questions i know someone can answer for me. what exhaust manifold should we be using to put a 91 LS into a 88 dx hatch? also will a 97 distributer and alternator work if i splice the wires to work? thanks for your help guys.
The correct exhaust manifold and distributer to use is the one that matches your engine and ECU. In this case, the 1990/1991 LS exhaust manifold is the one to use with a 1990-1991 motor if you are using the 1990-1991 ECU. Later exhaust manifolds place the oxygen sensor farther from the engine. And the unheated oxygen sensor used in the 1990-1991 LS will not get sufficiently warm in that position. So don't use a 1992+ exhaust manifold/header unless you are also using a 1992+ ECU on your 1991 motor.
The same is true with the distributer. The 1990-1991 ECU that comes with the motor is not compatible with a 1992+ distributer. Only a 1990-1991 distributer can be used. And if you wish to use a 1997 distributer, you MUST use a 1992+ ECU.
A 1997 alternator can be used. But it uses a different plug.
