Default Molded bodykits. I need some arguments against them.

Well, let me state for the record, I am not a fan of bodykits. The problem is, my girlfriend is interested in a car that has a molded bodykit. I say it's stupid for daily driving and is a problem waiting to happen. She won't listen to reason, so i need some help here.
And before someone mentions it, IDB will not solve this problem.

Well I personally haven't seen one on a daily driven street car that hasn't cracked where it was molded to the car. Plus its not easily reversible which means your pretty much stuck with it. My $0.02

Well I don't know how it was done. She just says the car is "pretty".
Custom interior, too.
Indiglo gauges.
I thought I taught her well, guess not.

We can't afford repairs. She's never driven a kitted car. Her only argument to get the car is "it's pretty". Ugh. Oh yeah, it's a 98 Eclipse GS.

crankwalk is only really an issue on the 7-bolt 4g63's, unfortunatley the eclipse gs does not have this motor, it has a neon motor . Even if it is a 7-bolt 4g63 its really rarer then people make it out to be. I personally only know one person that has had crankwalk(my brother) and I know a lot of other dsmr's with 2g's on the original motor.

If they were not done right they will crack in a year. If they were done right, they will crack within 5 years.

If you drive it daily and hit bump's normally, cut the time in half.

You get hit your screwed, you hit anyone you are REALLY screwed.

They are not for a street drivin car at all and look ghey anyways!

I've told her all this stuff. I just needed people with more experience to back me up. I don't want to tell what car to buy, but I'm trying to be realistic because she isn't. From what she has described, the whole car is a well put together ricemobile. I don't like the riciness to begin with, but that wouldn't be my biggest problem. My biggest problem is how stupid it is to have a molded (or otherwise) on a daily driven car. Also, I don't like the word "rice", but it's the only word that fits.

ya, heres my 2 cents...

Everything depends on where the car got done, my friend had a full widebody civic (show car) that he drove everyday. nothing beyond hairline cracks and stuff that was barely noticable, im not a fan of body kits, the argument i would pose, that if she hit a speed bump wrong, or acidentally hit one of those little parking curb things, it could be totally ruined and have to be reddone...and obviously reality says she cant afford it, secondly, id say that ecplis's are really prone to problems (crankwalk, HORRIBLE trannys, stuff like that) and again, reality says that cant be afforded either.

Yep!! she is right!! 2nd (95-99) generation eclipse are chick car.
About the molded kit ..its permenent so when it breaks lots of work to repair, .....molded kit are okay if only sides and rear bumper are molded,..leave the front alone so its removable when you do work on!! The GS motor should not have any problem with crankwalk.
If she really wants a eclipse...tell her to get a stock GSX...all whee drive turbo!! its pretty reliable when stock!!

I have seen so many molded body kit cars with Intercoolers and cannot imagine WTF they are going to do when they need to take the bumper off to get to it.

calling it stupid for daily driving isnt really "reason" persay, its a subjective opinion.

In this instance, i'd back your girl because having someone tell me its stupid isnt going to change my opinion. why dont you post photos and explain how having a kit is stupid for daily driving.
