i bought an ebay chip, and it put my pr4 in limp mode, so i slid my old chip in and i got the same thing. does that mean my edu is bad? or maybe the the chip bracket thing that we soldered in was done wrong? i need help! and what will driving in limp mode do. thanks dudes.

 

make sure that your ZIF socket is soldered in good...and also make sure that the chip makes good contact with the socket. otherwise maybe the chip is bad...and maybe your origional was damaged/overheated when it was unsoldered.

i assume that you reset the ecu when you put the old chip back in...

 

i reset it a few times. I also just re-examined the soldering. everything looks good. but something is wrong. i guess i could have burnt the old chip. i dunno.

 

I am thinking you might have damaged some of the tabs when you desoldered the factory chip. They usually rip out when you remove em when you arent extremely careful. And did u put the chip in the socket the right way. Inserting it once backwards will damage the chip, but not the ecu.

 

so i basically fucked something up hardcore. anyway of telling what i damaged? is it the chip or is the the ecu?
