while installing my SS JDM DC and SMSP cat I realized that my 5zigen exhaust is 2 1/4" piping. Was my whole header install in vain? its been raining so i havent been able to take it for a test drive. I know the get the max out of my set up i need a 2 1/2" piping from the cat back but would it be worth another $650 for a T1R exhaust w/ 2.5" piping; or should i be happy with the gain i have? BTW: search didnt really answer any questions....

 

You'll probably be in better shape than stock, remember the stock ITR exhaust had a couple bottlenecks as small as 1 7/8" ID.

 

Most jdm exhausts are 60mm, which equals out to 2.36 inches. I guess it's not that bad. Good Luck.

i ran that same setup on my 98 itr w/spec b's. it seemed to work pretty well. i would'nt worry to much about going up to 2.5, the fireball flows pretty well.

 

Unless you plan to do some serious mods later like cams etc... you should be fine. I have the SS DC JDM with a Mugen exhaust and definitely notice gains.

Liek someone said most exhausts are 60mm which is ~2.3" You'll be just fine with your setup, I was pretty sure the 5zigen was 60mm as well?

I ran 13's with a JDM DC going through the stock exhaust. Your setup might not be getting the most hp out of the engine, but the header will still make a good difference.
