Default Battle: S/S class questions.

Ok. I have printed out the rules and read over them a few times now and also been on the website for a while now and they rules are a little "vague" to say the least. I mean I understand the gist of it about tranny/suspension/brake and weight reduciton requirements as well as the safety aspects. I guess my only really concern is the motor. Bascially for S/S (street stock) class it has to be N/A and no motor swaps allowed. So basically are there limitations as to what you can do? I mean let's say for example this...out of the Honda camp probably the Integra Type R/GSR or Civic Si would fair very well as far as keeping stock motor.

It says no motor swaps but when building the engine do they really even bother with the street class teching the motor itself? I guess what I am trying to ask is what would keep someone from taking a GSR block and dropping an Eagle or LS crank in it, custom rods, deckplate (of couse this part might give it away as they do specify about this rule) 85+ sleeves, sky high comp. etc...? It seems as though building the block is kosher as far as compression and resleeving and overboring, stroke though? From what I've seen it seems you can basically do whatever you want to the head which isn't really a big deal. Cams of your choice full valvetrain and a Portflow head (as they are a contingency sponcer). What about the blocks though?

Oh and one last thing. Carbon fiber body panels are limited to engine hood only in one part but then it says front and rear bumpers can be OEM/Fiberglass or CF and can be molded in another. So no sunroof block off? What about aluminum block off?

Thanks.

well lets put it this way. i have an RS chassis with a b18b block. originally they didnt have a problem with me in that class, until someone protested me and they didnt allow me in the class anymore since i am using a vtec head. so if its something as aparent as the head, they wont let you use it... which doesnt make sense, but as of now that the ruling. as far as cranks and such go, they wouldnt do any kind of stroke or displacement testing.

I think it is the swapped cars that are crying after you beat them up Gordon. I could see why they don't let someone run in that class with a head change. Since you can't run in there I guess the fastest guy is Fred. You gonna be at mir sunday gordon?

Yeah Mack you were one of the guys that made me question the rules. I was looking at the results to see what kind of times I need to shoot for and I saw you in S/S and I was like hmmm I though Mack had an RS w/ LS/VTEC. Sorry to hear about it though.

its ok, i still won racing hybrids. but calling my car a hybrid is a stretch. thats the wierd thing.. they would let fred stay in the class, just b/c he has a gsr... the chassis, are hardly any different. during my "arguing" shawn (battle tech director) said.. well your car is the only integra w/o a sunroof and a vtec head.. .and then i said.. uhh what about the ITR? at that point they were out of excuses.. lol

Yeah I hear you man. It's a very close debate, but I see the technicallity.

So it sounds like my sunroof removal is out of the question then.

So is anyone running the street class or know if you can remove your sunroof? I mean it says carbon fiber can only be used on the hood so I guess I can't use C/F on the sunroof but what about aluminum etc...?
