Default Minimum turns for lug nuts

I would like to put my mr2 wheels/tires on the race car so I can bring all the good rubber inside for the winter, but I can only get about 1/2 a turn on each lug nut. Is that enough pressure for the car to sit on? If that isn't safe, I have a set of dirt stockers that I can mount, as long as it won't hurt the tires too much to sit in the garage over the winter.

I picked up the harborfreight wheel dollies on sale yesterday, so I'd like to keep wheels on the car.

Are those wheels hubcentric? If so, then all the lug nuts need to do is keep the wheel from falling off. Don't torque em hard and let the weight sit on the hub. (Of course you wouldn't want to drive the car like this.)

But if they aren't hubcentric, you need to torque them enough to keep the car from resting on the threads of the lugs, and I don't know if you want to torque them that much with only half a thread.

Just my $.02

720 degrees is the absolute minimum considering the thread and the nature of the forces applied to it.. So 1/2= No.. not good enough or safe

Jackstands under the control arms, dollies under the jackstands? Just a thought.

Of course this means every time you move the car, someone can say you are playing with dollies.

I've always been told 7 full turns to be safe.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll mount the dirt stockers for now.

Sitting on the Hosers IS probably going to be tough on them...

Put it on those intermediate Toyos. They've been around a long time - you're not gonna hurt 'em. (They came with the car when Dave got it....)
