Default Strange things happened with this stolen civic.

Last weekend, a police officer stopped by my house, asking me about my red civic. I wasn't sure really what he was talking about, since I own a few of them. After more questions and answers, I figured it out as being a 91' Si, that I sold back in April. Well, the car was abandoned at an apartment complex. Since the previous owner didnt register it, or apply for a new title, everything is still in my name, that's obviously why the cop came to me. He said he was going to have it impounded, and it would be my responsibility. So, to prevent any impound fees for either myself, or the guy I sold it to, I went and towed the car back to my place. So currently it sits in my driveway. The current condition is, not something to be desired, as it appears to have been cleaned out pretty good. Pics can be seen here:

Si, I today I finally got in touch of the guy I sold it to. After seeing pictures, he pretty much said it is of no use to him, and to give the car away, or take it to the junkyard. I have copies of all this, just in case. He also said he would provide me with the title, and bill of sale.

So, does anyone out there know, can this come back and bite me in the *** in the long run, if I keep it, or get rid of it?

Is their some camber issues with the passenger side front? Thats sweet you get it back for free. T
hey cant do anything if you have the title and its all in your name.
Is that rust free? If so I would keep it for a project, I mean it didnt cost you a dime so why not.

Well, it looks like some kind of "stock" shock and spring has been put on the front, and there is no motor.

Here's the way I see it.... If the cop came to you, and you were going to be responsible for it, then you can do whatever you want with it. Especially if the title is still in your name. If you could get in writing that the guy you sold it to said that you could have it back or give it away, then you'd be all set.

I would sell some stuff off of it and then take it to the JY. If I were close, I would take the sideskirts, dash, and maybe the steering wheel. If the paperwork says its yours, then its yours.

When you sold your civic, did you turn in a slip to the DMV that releases all liability of the vehicle? If so, you are not responsible even if the person you sold it to did not register the vehicle.

Utah has something like that, only on the title, which he never turned in.

I would keep it, from the pics, I could not see any rust in the back. If that is the case, defintly keep it.

Exactly, get it in writing that you can have the car back. And to go one step further get it noterized?? (Can you do that?)

He just picked it up tonight. I was not really looking to sell it to a friend. But he was in the market so to say. I know he has another shell that I traded him. Maybe he is looking to get rid of that.
