Default accord and prelude tranny(auto)

i was jus wondering if the prelude tranny has better gear ratios than the accord auto wise..i read somewhere that they were the same but im not sure. also if i do do the swap im guessin imma need a prelude ecu, does vtec or no vtec matter....and lastly will the 97+ tiptronic tranny work?.....i wanna stick with auto cuz everyone has a stick...im not lookin for fast times jus decent times and auto will do fine with me.

ugh

yes the gears are shorter

no you dont use a prelude vtec ECU, you dont want to be shifting at 7500rpms with an f22 lol

im not an expert on auto's but keep the accord auto tranny computer and just use the physical prelude tranny, the accord tranny computer will tell it to shift at 6250 instead of 7500

not sure how accurate this information is, but i read in a post a few weeks back, that the tiptronic will still work... it requires adding 3 wires i believe, but to where i don't remember...

try doing a search in the archives for h22 swaps (archive section), because I think it was mentioned in one of the posts about swaps.

imo, triptronic (if it works, which from what i ahve heard it doesn't) will add unnecessary weight and come at a much heftier price than the regular 92-96 auto tranny.

I also have a 92-96 auto tranny for sale if you're interested in buying. AIM: TypeRKoncepts or E-Mail: Typerkoncepts@aol.com

you said then the accord auto wise..

so i am taking your talking bout auto trannies? if so,
if its obd1 then you have an ecu and tcu.. the ecu will control the motor as well as torque convertor lockup, the tcu will be the tranny controll unit, it will tell the ecu/comptuer when to shift and at what rpms to do so...

so even if you had the auto h22 tranny, with the accord computer your still shifting at accord rpm points and that dont help much, id pick up the lude h22 tcu.

Now if the internal parts of the trannys are the same or different, id say different which makes the running of the accord tcu on the lude tranny a POS..

if your talking bout five speed trannys, its a whole new ball game

I have auto h22, this is what i know bout~

My friend has a 98' LX ( 5th gen ? ) accord and he's looking into swapping a vtec head and maybe a prelude tranny on top of the I/H/E and 55shot.

Just wondering what prelude tranny and ecu set-up would be best for him.

Thanx in advance.
