Default SI tranny problems.

Ok now that my swap is in, d16a6 running good, this is my problem, car goes thru gears when engine is off but when its running wont go in to gear, now ive tried messing with the linkage and tried adjusting the clutch cable @ a bunch of different settings with still no luck, it lowers the rpms about 200-300 when i try putting it into gear, If i start the car in first gear with clutch in the car will jump forward... this has been my first swap in my first honda and im proud to say i got the engine running kool but damn the tranny wont go into gear.... I know this tranny worked since i drove the car home with the old d16a6 and went into gear fine. The clutch disc that came on the new engine looked thicker than the one that was on the old motor that got pulled so i just left it on the engine and assumed it would work....any suggestions would be appreciated.

Make sure that is the right clutch and its not over tourqed, both of them problems have happened to a buddy and caused the same problem. Do you know forsure what car that clutch is for?

dude your clutch is not fully disengaging you got problems there that need fixed, is your throwout bearing installed correctly? or did you put the clutchdisk on backwards binding things up and causing this?

well something is wrong with the pressure plate then if you didn't have the clutch off and managed to get the disk on backwards, and yes it matters which side is out. I say that because when you do get it in gear the RPM's drop about 300, the clutch should fiully disengage and there should be no drag on the motor, Something is wrong with that clutch. Assuming it was properly adjusted. THe drag is keeping the gears from messing and going into gear.

what do you mean when u say i managed to get the disk on backwards? i never touched it just swapped the tranny on motor and put into car. and when the rpms lower 300 it doesent go into gear, its just when i try putting into gear, like im locked out....

Whats the history of the motor that the clutch came attached to? is your clutch cable streched?

Well, then its defective. because it is not releasing fully. Whatever reaason you will be buying a new one. Nothing else can be responsible for it. if you adjusted all the slack save one inch movement at the clutch release arm then the clutch is at fault and not the adjustment. I can't see the cable stretching more than it ccan adjust for. He has something wrong the clutch is not fully releasing and he needs to find out how much slack he has at the transmission end of the cable. if he gets the slack adjusted out then he has a clutch problem. ANd it sounds like he already tried that.

well if he can adjust all the slack out and it still does it then it is certainly a bad clutch.

If you had a DX, stock axels are perfect, you need to tell us what model this car is first, if it was Si or DX keep what it came with.

Si and DX axels are identical, no differences at all, as long as they aren't worn out.

exactly how much HP do you expect that motor to make to make it worth the cost of performance axels, Just get remanufactued ones if you are worried about your existing ones, I have Trak Auto remanufactured ones on my car (I have '93 TEG axels) with my ZC box for 2 years now and I am making more HP than that motor is making with no troubles. And I love an occaisional holeshot, with tires smoking. Performance axels are going to cost you more than a performance clutch will and thats more likely to give you trouble than the axels will.

If you were sleeving the block beefing up the internals and planning to run 20+ lbs of boost, then maybe you would need to worry about perfomance axels in my mind.
