Default 3rd GEN Accord Owners Need answers

I have a Friend with a 3rd Gen Accord (89 LXi)

He is very attached to that car and is determined to Mod it. It looks very nice and he has put a lot of $$ into it. So Selling it is not an option so please don't bother going there.

He wants to Lighten the FW it weighs 22 pounds Stock. He wants to Lighten the Stock FW. HOW light can he go on the Stock FW without risk of shatter?

There is a Valve I believe called an EGR valve that has a PIPE from the Exhaust manifold to the INTAKE manifold. there is a wire coming off this "EGR valve " and a vaccum line. WHAT IN THE HELL IS THIS FOR? I have also seen a similar device on the H22 except there is no visible PIPE from the EXmani.

He is using a B16 Intake Mani on the A20 engine. First of all is this even possible? He has redrilled the holes for the IM. The A20 has about 50 vaccum lines coming off it and the b16 IM has like 3.

If anyone has done this mod please let me know. About this Pipe from the EX mani running to the Intake mani... WHY??? the B16IM has no place for this so is this Pipe Needed?

Again this guy Loves this car and it is pretty nice... He likes the fact that it is different and not many people mod this car.

If you don't have answers here is there another site that you can refer?

the egr system is for reduced emissions, reduced chance of ping, and for cooling of the cylinders.
if he wants to keep it and gete good power tell him to do a b20a (160hp dohc NON vtec) swap since it came out of a 3rd gen JDM accord.

Okay thanks. I think he is a member of that MB already.

I don't know that a B20 is an option for him now that he has spent so much on the A20

the a20 is a good motor to build for boost...since it is cast iron....from what i have be told and read the pistons are weak and the rods are also...and that if u can find rods and pistons for them u will have a rock solid motor and will be able to put some serious boost to it as long as u get a nice fuel mang system.

I think he is interested in NA operation. But Seeing the Block First hand....Yes that thing is pretty Sturdy. But the Pistions and Rods are Pretty puny and seem weak.

He not trying to race it just want to build it up a bit to get a bit more HP out of it.

it's been over bored and milled. He's got an MSD and FPR. Reground Cam and Adjustable Timing gear. It's an Auto matic now but he's already done the pedal conversion

i have an 8pound aluminum flywheel on my daily driver 88 accord. U have to get it custom made tho which is pretty expensive. my A20 was dynoed at 140whp

Very Nice Numbers. He said he is aware of your car from the 3 geez MB.

I am trying to make sense of the B16 IM conversion
