Default How would you guys built it???

Whats up fellas. I was having a a conversation with a couple of race buddies on how to build a race motor for turbo, when some one said that he would build it really low compression and boost 40-50 psi. He said that he knows some one who has a race honda and that the car goes 8.6 and is making 800+ whp, but he is boosting 50+. I just think that is a bit much and that there isnt a need to boost that much to make only 800+. What do you guys think???

ok lets see lower compression means you will have more cylinder volume, so there is more room for fuel and air, more fuel and more air means bigger explosion, witch will make more power than high compression as long as you have the fuel and turbo to keep up, buttttt! i like high compression you don't have as much volume but can run lower boost levels to make the same power its just alot harder on the rods pistions and crank

i understand the low compression theory for a car on gas, on alcohol i think high compression would be the most optimal way to go.

I wish i could run Alcohol. Like Miller stated, high compression is good for alky cars.. But for now, i would stick to a lower compression ratio if yer on gas.

I know HP racing uses really low comp. motors and runs fast with them.

lower compression help with traction also, turbo spools slower. Then pour it on when it hooks ehehehehehe

for a street car with around 500whp i still like the whole 9:1 compression with turbo. in like a b16 or b18. wount that help it last a little bit longer?

anyone car to elaborate with me on that?
