1990 Accord Start-up/Idle problems Help needed.
I have a 90 Accord Ex with around 143K on the odo. It was recently in a wreck on the drivers corner but has been repaired. It has been having trouble running. I went and got the battery checked and it needed to be replaced (bought in 98 so it was due). Replaced battery and symtoms still occur.
Symptoms:
**I will crank the car over and it will barely start up.
RPMs will go up to maybe about 2k like it normally starts but then the tach just drops and then the car dies. (still have power and all dash lights come on)
I wait a while and turn off the ignition and retry and sometimes it starts right up with no problems and sometimes it does the above again until it starts finally with more attempts.
**Also when I am driving and stopped at a light it idles a little rough (kind of a vibration) could be motor mount or EGRs for that problem. But it also seems like it wants to try to die with a little chugging it gives off (almost like timing or coil problems) I dunno.
Car seems to crank over fine so I'm thinking the starter isn't the problem. I'm getting power and it seems to crank fine it just dies though.
Is the COIL the thing that goes out a lot on the 4th gens? Any help or suggestions would be great.
BTW: The timing belt was done at 90k and I know it is due soon. Is it 150k or 160k when it needs to be done? thanks for your time and help.
