I have one set of each and it looks like its going to be a wet Sunday for AutoX. I've been using the Azenis for my daily driver and the V700 has seen only 3 AutoX races (12 runs). Bottomline, both have decent amount of tread. Any suggestions on which would perform better on wet pavement?
The V700 is quite good in the rain, especially if not shaved. BUT, they turn into stones when cold. I found this fall that below 50deg in the rain, they have zippo grip. Sliding all over, tippitoeing around. The cars on Azenis in the same conditions had actual grip. This was on the K8A compound, I don't know how the later K6A would work.

Thanks...I have the newer K6A compound and you're right about how they fail when cold...I guess Azenis it is. One consolation is I dont have to change tires in the rain/cold since I'm driving on them.

Same here. If there is tread on them, they seem to work well in the rain. If it's cold, lowering the pressure a bit works well for me.

you need to qualify that statement.
if it is a downpour, with standing/running water, run the azenis. otherwise the V700's will be faster for sure.

Not quite true. I have run the Khumos for 3 years in all kinds of weather and though they stick better then the Hoosiers in wet weather they still aren't great. I find that the Azenis heat up faster so aren't so sensitive to the low temps that the wet courses have.
Now I bought my Khumos shaved from Tire Rack so I never have tried them in the rain with any tread. I do however have a good competitor in my class that runs within a 10th of me usually in the dry. When it rains and he stays on the Khumos and I run Azenis I usually get a big lead on him.

are your tires hard and heat-cycled out and left outside all winter?
Becuase i've used both azenis and Victoracers and Ecsta V700's in the wet, at full tread and worn down.
In no circumstance do the falkens stick better in the wet than a properly cared for V700. In fact, the Ecsta V700's kick alot of *** in the wet at full tread.

DUDE, I have the exact same set up but have never raced the V700 in the rain(not one rain day this season
), I change wheels/tires at the race, so try the V700's for 2 runs if you don't like em swich

Yes, by the time the rain hits here in Austin my tires are pretty worn from the season so I would say they are heat cycled by then. Also, I buy mine shaved so I have neved used them at full tread in the rain. Another thing is that most of the rain days we have here in the fall are pretty cold (about 40-50 degrees) so that is another mitigating factor.
In the end, all I can say is that I have had better luck on the Azenis in the wet then I did on my Khumos and especially my Hoosiers. Whether it is due to more standing water then you all get, stock suspension on my Si, or my tire care I can't say.

OK, I'll drive on the Azenis and bring the V700...and see how wet it is. btw, my V700 were not heat cycled, K6A compound, basically new with only 3 AutoX meets. Thanks for all your input.
