Problem with TAIL LIGHTS! Please help...
Ok, my friend has altezza's on his car. He bought them about 3 weeks ago, and has had many problems with them already. He's had to change the bulb in the middle tail light, 3 times already because it keeps turning white and shorting out/shattering. He likes the altezza's, and he doesn't wanna get rid of them, but he can't stand changing the bulbs every three weeks. Has anyone else had this problem with altezza's? Is there something special you need to do to keep the bulb from frying?
I don't see how the altezza lights would cause the bulb to burn out...they use stock bulbs, and harnesses...he should look elsewhere for a short...or maybe a Water leak
I dont' know if he is using stock bulbs from like Kragen or Napa or if he is buying real good bulbs like Polargs but if he is exessvley handling the bulbs specifically the glass portion any grease on his hands or even the oils in your skin can cause the bulbs to shatter..now if they were just burning out I wouldn't know what to tell you but since they are shattering they are probably being handled too much...even stock bulbs will do this but better bulbs are more sensitive...headlights are the same but much more sensitive you cannot even touch the glass on a headlight without ruining it.
Ok, well my friend took it to a mechanic and he said that the problem might be because the bulbs aren't getting enough oxygen, since the light cartridges look air tight. It was weird, because the only bulbs that were going out were the two middle bulbs, so I don't think it was a short, maybe a water leak, but I'm guessing it might of been because they got too hot, which made the bulbs expand and when we pulled them out it cracked, if anyone else had this problem, lemme me so i can tell my friend, otherwise, I'll keep everyone posted on how the holes we drilled in the cartridges effect the bulbs.
