Default sunroof leaking down passenger foot kickpanel....

Im new to the CRX si. (I just got it a week ago...(my first crx was a dx)) So, I have a problem, hoping someone could give me some advice as to how I can fix this. For some reason the guy who had the car b4 me filled in the corners of the sunroof assembly with silicone (to basically plug the drain holes). I have a newer assembly that will be goin in once I have time to do it. But for some reason, even though the drains are blocked, there is a leak into the passenger kickpanel. You know, it's where the rounded corner interior peice is on the carpet. Any Ideas on how to fix this or what is wrong?

Thanks guys!

You sure its comming from the sunroof? That area is also where the Blower assembly is for the HVAC unit.. Now if you have a leak on your cowl then that too will cause a leak into the passenger footwell.. check that first.

It also could be a faulty windshield replacement... It can leak down into the cowl, and drain to the kick panel.

make sure your wheelwells are in place and not damaged your front tires could be kicking up water in to the car through the door gap...

The windshield is the original. So I assume it isnt the windshield, because Honda makes things to last. Thanks for the opinion though

I am almost positive it is the sunroof. The only time it leaks like this is when it either rains hard or I wash the car. So, based on the fact that the drain holes in the sunroof assembly have been silicone-filled I assume that is why they are filled (b/c it leaks). But if it is sealed, how does it leak? And why would it leak in the first place? Do you think you could give me direction on checking the cowl?

Thanks a lot!!!

water may be draining over the roof assembly and running down the outside of the tube .

Could you explain that a lil' better....What tube? The drain hole? How could it drain outside it? Also, after I wash the car, when I open the sunroof, there is like a swimming pool in there so that throws me off even more. VERY FRUSTRATING! I have another sunroof assembly ready to go in but I am waiting for a "new" rust-free panel (if I can find a white one) to attatch to it b4 I install it.

Keep on coming with the sugestions and tips guys!

Don't be so confident.

All cars are just machines. They all wear out and break eventually, regardless of who manufactured them.

Get someone to spray water all around that area of the car while you sit inside and look for a leak.

Also, the reason your sunroof would leak with the drains sealed is just that - because the drains are sealed. All sunroofs leak. OEM sunroofs are designed to leak - the drains allow the water that leaks through the sunroof to drain off of the roof, rather than dripping inside. If there is a clog in one of the drain tubes, or as in your case, someone has sealed the drains, then your sunroof will not drain properly and water will leak into the interior of the car.

better fix that quick before you fry your ecu. I have the same problem but on the drivers side. My window regular is bent so my window doesnt close right so water came in thru there. Also water used to leak thru my sunroof. Have somebody run water over your car with a water hose while you sit in it and see if you can see where the water is comming in from.

Ok, this past weekend I took about 3 hours and took out my sunroof (all of it). Cuz I had a almost brand new one i bought off ebay b4 i got the car. The reason for it leaking was ALL of the drain holes were rusted off except the back ones. There is now an *** load of rust chips in my car which I will vaccum out this weekend. This new assembly is much better. It actually runs quiet and drains perfectly. I had to trim the hose down to make it fit the drains right but that isnt a problem cuz thankfully honda made them a lil longer than needed. Thanks for all off your help guys!
