Default Play in the drivetrain

My F22 5spd trans has definite play coming from somewhere. It clunks whenever engaging the clutch in gear and is most noticable in the lower gears. Haynes says the shafts or pinion could be worn. WTF? That doesnt sound normal. The car has 117K and is not abused. I even considered it being the CVs since they are the originals but they dont click in turns and the boots are bone dry. Just wanna see if anybody has had similar experiences.....If it is the trans, what a POS!

BTW, my car has all new poly bushings, ball joints, tie rods and ends, springs, shocks, you name it, so its not coming from any wear associated with these parts.

Have you figured out the drivetrain play problem? Is it your CV joints? My car does the same, but is an automatic with 118k original miles and original cv joints.
