APEX V-AFC or FPR?
Well, I want to be able to control my fuel. And these are basically my two choices. I am sooner or later going to get different cams which will require the VTEC controller. But I guess my question is will the V-AFC pretty much eliminate the need for the FPR?
thanks for the help...

no, only to a point. Once th Injectors reach 100% duty cycle, the map-tricking method does nothing. Also, you can only add +/-10% before you throw a code (and some say adding more than like 7% doesn't do anything). For your setup I'd get the FPR (you could have had mine for free!). The V-afc will be a waste of money now.

Agreed. Get an FPR now and the VAFC later when you get the cams. I bought a good used B&M FPR from a local guy. Works good, but it only raises pressure to 60psi. when i got my cams in a bought a VAFC later and installed it, then got it tuned. good luck!

Honestly..get both Id say.
Thats is not true. i ahve my idle leaned out 37% and have had no problems at all with any codes. I have also adjusted the fuel past +7% on the dyno and the A/F Ratio changed..so obviously it does have an affect past 7%.

But seriously he just has an intake, getting a v-afc is like getting a Hondata for a d16a with just exhaust. j/k, but cost/gain would be Null until other mods. Now, if money is no object, just get a Hondata right now.

Im running 96-98 OBDII
Ive added as much as 10% and didnt get a code...but also it wasnt at that high for very long...so maybe I would have had a code. Currently I have the 5500+ RPMs at +8% and havnt had any problems...and idle is -37% as I said. Ive had that setting on the idle for probably 2 months now without a code.
Then again..Im also running a test pipe on an OBDII ECU and I dont get a code..so maybe my car is "special"

plus, when you set your fuel for idle, the computer is running in open-loop so it overrides the map settings ans adjust fuel according the the o2 sensor's A/F ratio. It only forces it when you are at WOT (closed loop). HTH, -C

I got the car dyno tuned and the extra pressure was yielding more gains. I may have been able to gain more if I had a bit more pressure. The VAFC was tuned at the same time. I was recommended to eventually upgrade my fuel pump and injectors but I am fine for now. BTW, I have CTR cams and so on, hence the FPR and VAFC. And I have no problems running too rich.
sorry C, I don't like purple things in my engine bay
i'm getting an A/F ratio guage so I know how my car is running but it really wont do me any good without some way to adjust the fuel...I was just thinking if I could avoid the FPR than it'd be cool.
Does the vafc offer a memory? or say could i have two different curves to work with. So that I could change it quickly when I am spraying? I'll keep doing some research...more comments welcome
