Default leaking tranny after swap, did search

ok im having problems after my ZC swap and i havnt a clue of whats going on, here is the details.

car is a 90 CRX SI, DOHC ZC from hmotorsonline.com,using the tranny/flywheel that came in the car with a clutchmasters stage 2 clutch.

about a week and a half ago me and crux131 rolled my crx out of the basement after doing a zc swap. started it, got it running and started checking codes and trying to dial in the TPS switch (which is a bitch btw) and got the car where it could idle and let it come to temp. well since it was late on a friday night we thought about cleaning up and going to grab a beer since the car was togeather. well we push it back a little to pull the lawn mower and stuff back under the carport and notice a puddle of oil under the car. looked, and smelled like trans fluid i just added, it has leaked from somewhere and ran down on the flywheel and was slung all over the underside of the car. needless to say i felt so sick and pissed off since i just got the car to start we didnt go get the beer. well i let it side for a few days and put it back in the basement last night and pulled the tranny out. i was thinking that there was a seal behind the main shaft that was leaking and allowing the oil to get by and on the flywheel but after i pulled the throwout bearing i didnt see one. i added 1 1/2 qt of fluid but it did run out the fill hole, the tranny was drained when i cleaned it and installed the throwout bearing.

where in the world is the oil comming from for it to get on the flywheel? did i over fill it? i can not find anything and im so pissed off and tired of this car that im ready to push it into the river by the house. please help.

you have two possibilities, most likely is the seal on the transmission input shaft, yes there is one, or the rear main seal, if you never replaced it . Less likely but still possible. Second question, how did oil on the flywheel get slung all over the underside of the car, did you not put the tin cover back on it? If the back side of the Flywheel is wet with oil its the main seal, if your clutch is soaked its likely the trans.

i have my stock exhaust on but im getting a header from a friend so i didnt put the very bottom exhaust mount/trans guard on, i still had some things over the car to tighten. the motor still has the same amount of oil in it as i started with so i dont think its the seal on the block and i know this is trans fluid. is the seal for the imput shaft inside the trans? because the throwout bearing rides on a sleeve and the shaft goes into the sleeve a few inches from the back of the trans. and i hope it didnt ruin my new clutch.

do this. shine a flashlight up the backside of the Flywheel and look to see if there is a lot of oil there. if you got enough to sling around and if its from the trans, you are going to be extremely lucky if you didn't saturate the clutch disk. Try IM to Mista Bone he has a website and right this minute I don't remember if the D trans has the seal on the inside or outside of of the case on the input shaft. I'll check when I get a chance for something. I have a manual for the British market ZC and know its there but I can't get Acrobat to work on this damn computer and its a PDF file. I'll post a link if I can find it. Someone has this manual online. And you can see the breakout yourself or download it for reference.

THis is the ZC DOHC modle manual both are UK manuals so are in english.

well, the first link is about a 5 -10meg PDF manual of the enitire car. for the ZC specifically.
Try to wash it down with brake cleaner, might be able to salvage it, cleans without leaving residue. Worth a shot anyway.

hope it can be salvaged b/c http://www.streetsourcemag.com...1.jpg this car will be for sale if i have any more problems out of it. i have a fully loaded fullsize chevy that im driving now, the only reason i am trying to get it back is gas milage and its a fun car. i think its the seal inside the trans letting it run outto the flywheel.

edit, said the file was damaged and couldnt open.
